Satan.
A writer torments his wife whilst leading a dissolute lifestyle. His life comes crashing down when the police suspect him of a series of murders, all played out in front of his black cat named Satan, 'the only intelligent critter around.' His wife takes against the cat and is determined to get rid of it, but the moral of the story is don't mess with a cat.
