Later Tarzan shows Joey, an orphan he's picked up in the jungle, how to stare down a lion! 'See just big cat." This comes in handy when towards the end of the picture Tarzan finds himself trapped on cliffs near a pride of lions. Fortunately Joey remembers his lesson.

We all know that no journey through a jungle isn't complete without a snarling lion. Even if we all now know that lions don't live in jungles! Later Tarzan gets to tangle with a tribe who keep a pit of very hungry lions, who would like nothing better than to chomp down on some humans.

Abbott and Costello comedy, which starts with Bud, (as a book store assistant), playing a fearless lion tamer - the gag being that he's using a kitten! It spits and hisses at him and Bud runs away.

The duo come across a lion cub, and Bud comes up with the idea to catch it, unfortunately coming across its mother in the process! More lions appear later, within a long lion taming sequence.

The beautiful Maria, turns up on the beach with her pet serval, which promptly runs off with her scarf.


Later Lions, tigers and other big cats also make a brief appearance, escaping their cages to fight the creatures on the island.
